This is a website with supplementary material for my book A Short History of the Byzantine Empire, published by I. B. Tauris in April 2014.
The bibliography included in the book contains a list of publications exclusively in English that aims to help readers navigate the history of the Byzantine Empire. However, this bibliography does not do justice to the material I have consulted in writing this book and therefore I have created this website to offer additional resources in a variety of languages. This additional bibliography is eclectic, rather than exhaustive. I have chosen to refer to more recent publications, often by younger scholars whose opinions have challenged long-established views.
